October 1st of 2009 was the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On this day, ACFTU organized more than 300 model workers from across the country and all walks of life to come to Beijing to attend the National Day ceremony and the pageant wagon parades.

        On the eve of the National Day, ACFTU held a reception in Beijing, extending a warm welcome to those model workers being in Beijing for the National Day celebrations. ACFTU Chairman Wang Zhaoguo attended the reception and met with the model workers. When delivering a speech, he spoke highly of the important historic contributions made by the vast numbers of advanced workers for national development and people’s well-being since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and hope that model workers should make still greater contributions for furthering the reform and opening up and for the socialist modernization drive.

        ACFTU Vice-Chairperson and First Secretary Sun Chunlan made a speech at the reception. She demanded that trade unions at various levels care for model workers as always, rally and mobilize broad masses of workers to perform better deeds of merit for furthering the economic development in a steady and rapid way and do their best to safeguard workers’ legitimate rights and interests.
