On the occasion of the National Day, trade unions of various localities across the country started activities to extend kind regards to model workers in an intensive way. Trade union cadres in various localities went into midst of grassroots units and families of model workers, visited 98,000 model workers at all levels and raised the consolation money valued at more than 100 million yuan. The regards and visits, extended and paid to the largest majority of model workers in an intensive way, have been on the largest scale since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

        Over 60 years since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, a large number of advanced individuals and model workers have sprung up in all walks of life throughout the country, of whom over 25,000 people have been national model workers and advanced workers, more than 300,000 people have been provincial and ministerial model workers and 18,000 people have won National May Day medals.
